Welcome to Day 1
Your Lucky Day
If you love startups — which you probably do if you’re Angeling up — this is your lucky day. We are going to show you how one gets built - in real-time. Every week, in addition to sharing new deals, we’ll give you a behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening with Play Money.
Why Season 0?
Back in Q4, we beta-tested Play Money: 4 weeks, 5 deals, and about 50 angel investors. Our goal was to bulletproof our end-to-end money and investing flow with our partners Plaid (for money movement) and Sydecar (for KYC and investments).** While that was arguably the most important part of Play Money to get right, it was also the easiest. We knew exactly what to do.
The rest of this is a big experiment that we are figuring out - along with you - as we go.
Our medium-term goal is to deliver you 1-3 perfect pre-seed and seed-stage startup deals each week: laser-targeted to what you are most likely to love and sourced from the most inspiring (and high-performing) emerging fund managers and elite angel groups.
But we are not there yet. We have a lot of AI training and pipeline building to do first. So we are starting small.
We are sourcing deals from our favorite early-stage fund managers, but we’ll start slowly with one deal and eventually two deals a week.
Initially, everyone will see the same deals. And while our goal is to share at least one deal you love each month, we are also learning from what you don’t love.
And we’ll run plenty of community, connection, and education experiments along the way. So lean in, enjoy the front-row seats, and don’t be shy about asking questions and dropping feedback.
Yes, the app feels a bit “Season 0-ish”. We’ll clean up the quirky, clunky UI as we go, as well as continue to roll out new features. There is plenty that makes us cringe, trust me. But getting something live is the best way to learn. So here we go!
There is a green chat gem on every page. Use it to ask a question, give feedback, and say hi. It will probably be me on the other end. #startuplife
Next week I’ll share more about the mission and the math behind what we are doing.

** Don’t worry if you don’t understand the what and the why behind some of the terms I used, we’ve got some fun education modules coming.
